📖 How to Setup a Faction Discord Bot

Follow these steps to set up the Faction Bot so it can ping members in your server:

  1. Go to the Discord Developer Portal and click New Application.
  2. Click Bot in the left menu. Under the Token section, click Reset Token to copy your Bot Token. Paste it below.
  3. Scroll down to Privileged Gateway Intents. Enable Presence Intent, Server Members Intent, and Message Content Intent, then click Save Changes.
  4. Click OAuth2 in the left menu, then click URL Generator. Under Scopes, select the bot checkbox.
  5. Under Bot Permissions, select Send Messages and Mention Everyone.
  6. Copy the Generated URL at the bottom and open it in a new tab to invite the bot to your server!
  7. In your Discord app, go to User Settings > Advanced and toggle on Developer Mode. Right-click the channel where you want alerts to go, click Copy Channel ID, and paste it below.
